Celbar
Celbar is a blend of specially prepared cellulose fibers, organic in nature, treated with adhesive and fire resistant chemicals. When sprayed in place, the interlocking fibers result in a mass that produces excellent sound and thermal properties.
Celbar is pneumatically spray-applied in wall and floor/ceiling cavities to form a monolithic coating. This process seals cracks and holes in the wallboard, around plumbing and electrical outlets, vent ducts and other irregularities. There are no compressed areas or voids to allow sound leaks, R-value reduction, or air infiltration.
Performance Where it Counts
Celbar provides superior sound transfer control demanded by building designers, owners and occupants. Celbar assemblies perform closer to lab tested STC ratings in the field than do other conventional batt and sound board systems. This is due to the complete coverage and the sealing action of Celbar.
The performance of Celbar compared to other identically constructed wall systems, as documented by laboratory tests is shown below.
The base system and results are as follows
Thermal Performance
Celbar’s R-value of 3.8 per inch allows you to design exterior wall systems with higher total R-values. However, R-value alone is not the only measure of a product’s thermal effectiveness. To obtain maximum thermal efficiency, air infiltration must be minimized. Sprayed in place, Celbar conforms to any substrate, around pipes, obstructions, and over cracks, reducing air infiltration and forming a highly efficient and effective thermal barrier. It can be sprayed to virtually any exterior stud or furred cavity, and in most cases the wall can be closed up the same day.
Energy Savings Example
In a series of tests, five identical buildings were monitored for KWH usage over an eleven month period. One building utilized sprayed cellulose in the walls, and the other four utilized fiberglass batt insulation. Upon conclusion, the cellulose-insulated building saved 32% of the KWH usage of the other buildings.

K-13
K-13 is the spray-applied insulation tailored to your specific project requirements for insulation (R value), noise reduction (NRC), color, durability, condensation control, texture, and aesthetics.
In addition, it usually provides these features at lower installed prices than many common systems such as rigid board and batt insulations, sprayed plasters, and acoustical ceilings. It is applied to virtually any properly prepared surface configuration of wood, steel, concrete, glass and other common construction surfaces. K-13 can be sprayed up to five inches thick overhead in one application without mechanical support. Additionally, K-13 serves as the exposed finish requiring no additional materials.

A Total System: Fiber, Binder, Application
K-13 is a total system of recycled natural fibers, chemical treatement, binding system and application method. The K-13 system begins with specially prepared cellulose fibers which are chemically treated to add resistance to fire, mold and mildew. K-13 is produced in a strict, quality controlled manufacturing process. K-13 is applied by an international network of licensed applicators through approved fiber machines and nozzles for control of the fiber/binder ratio. During application, the K-13 fibers are combined with a patented adhesive. The finished product is a strong, durable monolithic coating of a predetermined thickness. Some surfaces will require priming prior to being sprayed. K-13 is available in 6 standard colors, special color matching is available.
Naturally Tough – Naturally Attractive
Available in a wide variety of colors, K-13 is especially attractive as a surface finish in new construction as well as renovation projects. Available in six standard colors, K-13 can also be specified in specially matched custom colors.
Thermal Performance
K-13 insulates by creating dead air spaces between and within its hollow fibers. Because K-13 fibers are sprayed-in-place, they fill cracks, seams and voids, forming a monolithic coating over the substrate which helps reduce air infiltration. Unlike prefabricated insulations, K-13 has no voids or compressed areas to reduce thermal efficiency. The result is a more effective in-place product with exceptionally low heat loss characteristics. The patented adhesive utilized in the installation of K-13 adheres to virtually all common construction materials including: metal, wood, concrete, urethane, styrofoam and glass. Some surfaces may require pretreatment prior to installing K-13. This unique adhesive provides unequaled strength allowing applications of 3/4 inch to over 5 inches without mechanical support. This capability provides R-values from 3 to over 19.
Condensation Control
For areas such as indoor pools and ice arenas, K-13 aids in condensation control. The proper combination of K-13 and ventilation prevents condensation on metal, concrete and other surfaces. K-13 actually reduces ventilation requirements, saving in both the ventilation equipment investment and operating cost.
Acoustical Performance
The resilient fibers of K-13 absorb sound energy instead of reflecting it, reducing reverberation time and making speech and music more intelligible. Excessive noise is reduced with the application of K-13 while greatly improving ambient sound quality in a wide variety of building projects including auditoriums, sports facilities, detention facilities, television and sound studios, convention centers and parking garages.
K-13 is the spray-applied insulation tailored to your specific project requirements for insulation (R value), noise reduction (NRC), color, durability, condensation control, texture, and aesthetics.
Protek-13
Whether your facility has been around for years or is currently under construction, protecting your fibrous insulation and fireproofing with Protek-13® is a spray-applied, water based vinyl acrylic emulsion containing interlacing/bridging fibers forming a protective white coating over fibrous surfaces.
Acoustical Performance
Protek-13® provides a protective coating for your fibrous surfaces without significantly affecting the acoustical performance of the material underneath.
The following test was conducted by spraying two separate thicknesses of Protek13® over 1.75″ of K-13® Spray-On thermal/acoustical insulation. System 1 was applied in a standard coating, covering 96-98% of the K-13 underneath. System 2 was a heavy build, covering 99-100% of the underlying K-13®. The following chart shows the acoustical performance of both systems.
| Frequency | 125 | 250 | 500 | 1000 | 2000 | 4000 | NRC |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1.75″ K-13 | 0.19 | 0.60 | 1.05 | 1.11 | 1.03 | 0.98 | .95 |
| Standard | 0.30 | 0.60 | 1.09 | 1.09 | 1.02 | 0.95 | .95 |
| Heavy Build | 0.32 | 0.53 | 0.69 | 0.56 | 0.36 | 0.29 | .55 |
Protection from Physical Damage
High traffic areas are often vulnerable to physical damage from personnel, machinery, birds and other sources. The tough resilient surface of Protek-13® resists abrasion and prevents the “picking away” of the fibers. This protection can greatly extend the useful life of the covered building materials.
Protection for airborne contaminants
Dust, dirt, grease and fumes are present in almost every industrial environment. The firmer, more uniform surface of Protek-13® significantly reduces the accumulation of these airborne contaminants. In addition, Protek-13® can easily be swept with a broom, blown clean with compressed air or lightly washed with water (no scrubbing).
Solid fire performance ratings
Protek-13® has a Class 1, Class A flame spread rating of 5 according to ASTM E-84.
High light reflectivity
The application of Protek-13® can brighten your whole facility. This high light reflectivity greatly improves the safety of the working environment without requiring an increase in lighting power.
Colorful Options
Fibrous or porous substrate materials will absorb a great deal of regular paint without showing a significant color change. Protek-13® due to its bridging and interlacing fibers provides an easily obtainable uniform color (at the surface) requiring less material. If a custom color is desired at the time of installation, Protek-13® can be custom blended to match your design color scheme.
Whether your facility has been around for years or is currently under construction, protecting your fibrous insulation and fireproofing with Protek-13® is a spray-applied, water based vinyl acrylic emulsion containing interlacing/bridging fibers forming a protective white coating over fibrous surfaces.
